Still life interiors and marines form the basis of my current work. I love rigorous draughtsmanship, tonal values and harmonious composition. The sea and marine light have become more important to my visual language since moving to Hastings in East Sussex. This light suffuses the still life arrangements in my studio – 5 minutes from the sea.

I paint the marines mostly from drawings and memory, and still life directly from the subject. A still life painting might take a number of sessions over several weeks. I work both in watercolour and oils.
