Melissa Scott-Miller was born in 1959, she attended the Slade School of Fine Art 1977-81 where she was awarded a first class BA in Fine Art, she won the prize for figurative painting and various other prizes and after leaving the Slade was awarded the Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation scholarship. Also later won The Lord Leighton Prize and a prize for figurative art at the Royal Overseas League, both chosen by the artist Carel Weight.
She was elected a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 1999, a member of the New English Art Club in 2008 and a member of the RBA in 2018.
She won second prize at the South Bank, Spirit of London exhibition in 1987. In 2008 she won first prize at the Lynn Painter-Stainers exhibition.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, at the Acquavella Gallery in New York, the Crossgate Gallery in Lexington, the Albemarle Gallery London and the Grosvenor Gallery and the Twenty Twenty Gallery in Ludlow, many times in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and various group exhibitions. In March there will be a one person exhibition at Chris Beetles Gallery, London.
