AC Gallery is delighted to present a special exhibition celebrating the work of Peter Brook RBA, the Yorkshire artist whose evocative paintings of the Pennine landscape earned him the reputation of “The Pennine Landscape Painter”.
Born near Holmfirth, Brook developed a lifelong relationship with the hills, villages and communities of the Pennines. His career subsequently extended far beyond Yorkshire, including election to the Royal Society of British Artists and representation by the established London dealer Agnews.
The exhibition brings together original paintings, rare signed prints and estate-approved prints, close to the landscapes and communities that shaped his artistic life. AC Gallery has been the main dealer and exclusive publisher for Peter Brook since 1999.
About Peter Brook RBA
Peter Brook RBA (1927–2009) was a Yorkshire landscape painter whose work became closely associated with the Pennine countryside. Born near Holmfirth and educated in Barnsley and at Goldsmiths College, London, he developed a distinctive style depicting the hills, villages, buildings, weather and people of the region.
His first one-man exhibition was held at Wakefield City Art Gallery in 1960 and was favourably reviewed in The Times. Election to the Royal Society of British Artists in 1962 was followed by representation in London by Agnews, with a series of solo exhibitions in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Collectors included many figures of the day — among them James Mason and Sir Tom Courtenay.
